These Christmas cards have been produced to raise funds for Faces of Need, a unique conservation project to restore the nesting colonies on Dyer Island. Every R350 raised builds a new penguin house. Proceeds of the sale of the cards goes to the charity.

THE CHARITY: The African Penguin is a vital (and delightful) part of the world famous marine ecosystem of the Cape, South Africa. Sadly many of the vitally important penguin breeding colonies on the offshore islands are rapidly declining, with the population reduced to an all time low. Now the charitable Dyer Island Conservation Trust has begun a unique project, Faces of Need, to re-establish and conserve the African Penguin breeding colonies on Dyer Island, Robben Island and elsewhere along the coast. Thousands of nesting boxes are being provided on the islands to protect mothers, eggs and chicks from predators and the stormy weather along this coast. On Dyer Island these "homes" have already proved successful - some are attracting breeding pairs of penguins within hours of being completed.

As a result, the Faces of Need project is creating scientific and public interest beyond South Africa and has become a focus for international research to improve conservation of penguins worldwide.

Each new "home" costs R350 and the programme is totally dependent on charitable contributions. Therefore, PLEASE HELP US RAISE THE MUCH NEEDED FUNDS BY PURCHASING OUR ENTERTAINING AND UNUSUAL CHRISTMAS CARDS.

THE CARDS: The Dyer Island Conservation Trust has commissioned five Christmas cards by the famous South African illustrator, Wendy Robinson, who is well known for her delightful cartoons of penguins. As you can see she has created a delightful series of images reflecting the penguins' pleasure when moving into their new homes.

Please help the penguins share in the joy of a new "home" by ordering as many cards as possible!!! All the proceeds go directly to the Charity and will be used to purchase more "homes" as well as support research.

The cards are printed in full colour on high quality stock and are sold in sets of 5 different images, with envelopes. They are available in two sizes:

A5 — 210 x 148 mm — R90 per set (R18/card)
A6 — 148 x 105 mm — R65 per set (R13/card)

Prices are excluding postage.
