Swimming
and Surfing
Pearly Beach has a relatively safe coastline,
and beaches are very swimmer-friendly.
Castle Beach offers great surfing when
the conditions are good. |
 |
Long
walks on the beach
Pearly Beach has a long, unspoilt, white
sandy coastline, perfect for an early
morning stroll. |
 |
Fishing
Bring your fishing gear and your refreshment
and see who can catch the biggest fish
that got away.
Please
note that favourite fishing spots must
be reached by foot as the beaches are
closed to vehicles. Permits are compulsory. |
|
Cycling
Pearly Beach is great for cycling. Trundle
along Charlie van Breda Road and keep
your eyes open for whales, or cycle around
the town and see what's new. Or pack a
back-pack with refreshments and cycle
westerly along the beach. On the way is
a shipwreck and after about 45 minutes
or so, you'll reach the Uilenkraals River
at Uilkraalsmond Caravan Park. |

Land-
and Boat-Based Whale Watching
Southern Right Whales visit our shores
from June to November, where they mate,
calve, and have a blast. Sitting on one
of the many benches along the coastline
is the perfect place to spot them from.
If you want to get closer, Gansbaai and
Kleinbaai offer boat-based whale watching.
