ABOUT
Pearly Beach Patrols was formed
in 2003 by a group of local residents who were concerned about
the growing number of burglaries in the area. Headed by Charlie
Bruwer, a dedicated group of 11 - mainly husband and wife - teams
take it in turn to drive around Pearly Beach each night. They
are in contact with the local Police in Gansbaai, and any suspicious
behaviour is reported immediately.
Since the inception of the Patrols,
the rate of break-ins has dropped considerably, and many holiday-makers
who have houses here can now sleep easy, knowing that their homes
are under the watchful eye of these committed locals.
In order to compensate the Patrollers
for expenses incurred - they use their own vehicles - all residents
and property owners are urged to support this voluntary service
and help to keep Pearly Beach crime-free.

NEWS
UPDATE: 2005 Year-End Braai
A
year-end braai was held at the Angling and Recreational
Club for all the Patrol teams and their spouses.
The newly appointed Gansbaai SAPS station commander,
Captain Lukas, together with the Patrols manager,
Charlie Bruwer, handed out certificates to the
team members.
Captain Lukas was impressed with the work carried
out by the local residents, and believes that
the patrols have definitely made a positive impact
on crime in the area.
Charlie went on to thank all patrollers for their
dedicated service, and wished them all well for
Christmas and the New Year.
