THE FISH ARE BACK!!!
Our club competed against Alpha club and it was amazing to see how much fish were caught. The Pearly Beach anglers really pulled their weight and we had a record number of entries, as well as the heaviest catch for the year. And then we also beat Alpha club with an average weight of 1.8kg / entry versus their 1.3 kg / entry.
The weigh-in happened in good spirits with a lot of chirps and laughs all-round. Alpha is a great club to compete against and is always welcome to join us again in Pearly Beach. Unfortunately the details of their catch are not available.
The guys from Pearly Beach weighed in ±77kg in total. Emjy Steyn caught a 6.7 kg Kabeljou at Plaatjieskraal, Dennis Morries a 6.4 kg Musselcracker and a Galjoen and his son Willie Morries caught 2 Galjoen. Nelius Swart weighed in a 6.5 kg Steenbras at Soetfontein.
Two ladies entered the competition this time and Hanlie Schultz weighed in a Kolstert at 0.5kg. You go girl!! You might just win the ladies championship.
Jacques Viviers and Johan de Kock are giving one another a good go for the championship this year. Jacques weighed in 2 Galjoen and 2 Kabeljou with a total weight of 7 kg, caught at Plaatjieskraal.
The day however belonged to Johan de Kock who took the first place for heaviest fish, as well as heaviest bag. He weighed in 4 Kabeljou at 1.7kg, 6.5kg, 8.1kg and 9.9kg, caught at Castle Beach.
The competition points are now very close for these 2 anglers with Jacques leading the championship by 0.4 points. Jason Hitge is not too far behind Jacques and Johan and with November and December's competitions remaining for 2007 and the current good run of fish, anything can still happen. Hannes Smuts and Wikkie van Dyk could easily catch up if the fish bite in their favour. But one large catch can still see any of the other anglers moving up the rankings and causing an upset of the current points standing.

The next club competition will be held on Saturday 10 November 2007 and weigh-in will take place at 18h00. Remember to register on Friday night. And guys, please start wearing sun protection!!!
A Charity Market Day will take place at the club whilst the anglers are doing their thing. Please support this worthy cause. Bring your family and friends along. There will be something for everyone. See you there!
