Dance: 08 September 2007
The
Pearly Beach Club hall is going down the tubes......empty
Old Brown Sherry and wine bottles were lying around in
the toilets, old news paper was lying around......looks
like somebody slept under it......and the table cloths!!!
Newspaper!!! At least the lanterns cast a bit of light.
The
Hobo Dance wasn't attended by very many people, but the
ones who made the effort enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
Robert and his staff worked hard to decorate the hall
and it all looked great. A real dump. Quite a few people
dressed up (or is it down) to fit the theme and Andrew
& Joyce won the prize for best-dressed-couple, as
judged by Doekies, the DJ. They received some Avon shower
gel and roll-on (so they could smell better), some coffee
and longlife milk (to keep out the cold) with 2 "blikbekers"
and some Candles and matches (to at least have some light
in their lives).
Charlie
and Alvie, as well as the Visagies and van Dyk's would
also make excellent hobos, should they decide to change
jobs.
Hannie "borrowed"
some of his hobo-wife's clothing for the evening and the
"papsak" was always handy. Some of the visiting
hobos actually won the spot dance......2 brand new Pearly
Beach Club t-shirts......sponsored by KEM Builders.
Kobus,
from KEM builders, was kind enough to sponsor some lovely
t-shirts to the Club. They are available at R40 per t-shirt
at the Club. KEM Builders also sponsored the DJ for the
evening. THANK YOU Kobus!!
As always, the
food was great. We were served lovely fresh fish and chips,
wrapped in hobo-style, followed by delicious hobo-pudding.

In true hobo-fashion,
we all crept under our bushes early enough not to be caught
"dronk-op-straat". And for once the Pearly Beach
hobos could do that with a full tummy and an extra piece
of newspaper.
