Shirley opened in prayer. NIGHT PATROLS & BLOCKWATCH Charlie advised the meeting that the Night Patrols were operating well and that Lourens Venter had circulated a letter to all Pearly Beach residents, encouraging them to contribute to the Patrols, to enable them to at least cover the cost of petrol used by the patrollers. They are also in the process of reinstating the daytime Blockwatch system and Charlie would inform us of the outcome of their meeting on 13 August. Nelia reported that she had been approached by the Gansbaai SAPS station commander to form a sub forum in Pearly Beach B which she was in the process of establishing. Dudley enquired how this sub forum planned to operate as all security matters lay with Charlie and the patrollers. Nelia responded that the forum members would simply be the additional "eyes and ears" and would liaise closely with Charlie and the patrollers. VILLAGE COMMUNICATION Steve Peck, the new owner of The Ark had contacted Dudley to express his concern that community related activities in Pearly Beach were not well communicated, and suggested that a community notice board be erected at a convenient location. It was agreed that this was a good suggestion and that the most suitable location would be at Pearly Village. Eugene agreed to follow this up with Ralph Immerman. It was noted that the Municipality were to erect a notice board at the club. Dudley undertook to check what progress was being made in this regard. Dudley suggested that Steve Peck be invited to join the committee as a co-opted member, as both he and his wife are willing to become more involved in the community. It was agreed that Steve be approached to join the PBRPA committee and as his first task, he would be asked to undertake a survey of the number of permanent residents at Pearly Beach. A questionnaire would be compiled and given to Steve. Norma also reported that foundations had been done for an extension at the Pearly Shells B & B in Crest Road. Dudley would check the plans at the municipality for both of these buildings.
