9 June 2008 — Minutes

MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE PEARLY BEACH RATEPAYERS COMMITTEE HELD AT 1 ARC STREET, PEARLY BEACH, AT 16H30, ON 9 JUNE, 2008.

PRESENT : Dudley Coetzee; Lawson Crichton; Eugene Hendry; Nelia Muller; Norma & Johnny van Wyk & Shirley Coetzee

Dudley welcomed everyone and opened in prayer.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MINUTES

Tarring of Roads

Dudley had expressed the RPA's dissatisfaction that the priority list for the tarring of roads was not being considered by the Municipality - in particular, Perlemoen Street which was recently tarred and which was no 10 on the Priority list. The Operations Manager at the Municipality had apologized, but stated that it was normal practice to complete the tarring of a particular street before starting with another. The tarring of Perlemoen Street had commenced last year, at it was at the top of the priority list of the previous PBRPA.

All the RPA's were asked to specifically make written requests to the Municipality should they not want the tarring of a road completed before beginning the next one.

ALIEN CLEARING WORKSHOP : 15 MAY 2008

Eugene had represented the PBRPA at this meeting as Johnny was ill.

He reported that the programme appeared to lack co-ordination, but that the Wetlands, Dune areas and Parks were all receiving attention.

ELUXOLWENI

Nelia expressed the opinion that the PBRPA should become more involved in the affairs of Eluxolweni. Eugene responded that in the past, efforts had been made to include a representative from Eluxolweni to advise what their requirements were. These efforts were not very successful and Eugene was of the opinion that unless the residents of Eluxolweni were prepared to actively become involved in the upliftment of their area, we would not be able to offer much assistance. Nelia agreed to invite Hendrik Latola to attend the next RPA meeting.

FINANCE

Nelia stated that she had obtained the latest address list for PBRP and she would make this available to us. Once this listing was available, Dudley, Shirley and Eugene would liaise and efforts would be made to invite more PB property owners to join the PBRPA.

GENERAL

1. It was suggested that the Blockwatch system be re-instituted during the daytime. Dudley replied that this needs to be discussed and co-ordinated with Charlie Bruwer. Lawson was asked to invite Charlie to the next PRA committee meeting.

2. It was noted that certain street names are spelt incorrectly. The Municipality will be requested to correct them.

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will take place at the same venue on Monday, 14 July, 2008, at 16h30.

There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was closed at 17h45.
