3 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES OF 11 JUNE 2007:

3.1 Item 3.2 - Tarring of roads: The RPA submitted a revised priority list for tarring of roads to the Municipality. It was also requested that Short Market Street be finished, as half the road doesn't exist at present. A copy of that letter is attached to the original of this minute.    <<Back

4 MEMBERSHIP MATTERS & FINANCE:

4.1 Income/Membership Fees: R8,783 in the bank. Outstanding membership fees of R320 were paid at Androux Estates. There have also been a number of bank deposits. It was noted that the revised letter sent out with the 2007 AGM minutes was producing results. The request for email addresses was also proving successful.

4.2 Date of next AGM: The committee has decided to move the date from March to December/January, so that more people can attend the meeting, as most of the ratepayers are in Pearly Beach over the Christmas holidays. A proposed date is 28 or 29 December 2007, depending on the availability of the DR Church hall. It was also suggested that the meeting be held in the afternoon.    <<Back

5 CORRESPONDENCE & COMMUNICATIONS:

5.1 An email was received from Jeff Theodor requesting a speed bump at the Beach Road/Central Street intersection. Traffic doesn't stop at the stop streets and he is worried about his and other children who cross there. The RPA would reply.

5.2 Emergency First-Aid Room: Frik informed the meeting of the intention to provide a First Aid Room next to the Rooibier / Frik Prinsloo Properties, near the entrance to Pearly Beach. The plan is to have the necessary medical supplies available there in case of an emergency. Qualified first aid personnel will be available to render first aid, until a doctor or paramedic could attend to the patient. Frik also stated that some people misunderstood the article that was placed in the local press. The intention is to create no more than an emergency First Aid facility. The RPA will keep up to date with developments.    <<Back

6 REPORTS ON MEETINGS:

6.1 Public Police Meeting, 16 June 2007: The police spokesman said that the recent spate of break-ins was petty crime - people looking for food and drink after the holidaymakers had left. He suggested that unoccupied houses install motion-sensing lights to deter possible wrongdoers. Property owners were also requested to display their street numbers on their houses. It was noted that the police presence in Pearly Beach has also been more visible recently.

6.2 Nuclear Power Station: Eugene had represented the RPA at a meeting in Cape Town at which ESKOM addressed the Municipalities and NGOs on their future plans, including the construction of new power stations. At this meeting it was stated that the preferred method of generating electricity at the coast would be nuclear power, while coal and natural gas would continue to be used inland. ESKOM also stated that all five sites identified for the construction of nuclear power stations would be developed in due course. Eugene registered the PB RPA as an interested and affected party.    <<Back

7 GENERAL:

7.1 Building Report: One new plan approved.

7.2 Law Enforcement: The RPA will request that a law-enforcement officer or traffic official be available in Pearly Beach over long weekends and holidays, to curb illegal quad bike traffic and speeding vehicles, as well as to maintain order.    <<Back

8 NEXT MEETING: Monday, 10 September 2007.    <<Back

9 CLOSING: The Vice-Chairperson thanked members for their contributions and declared the meeting closed at 17:20.    <<Back
