3 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES OF 4 APRIL 2007:

3.1 Item 3.1 New Email Address: It was suggested that an eye-catching flyer be included with the 2007 AGM Minutes, alerting people to the new email address, and encouraging them to submit their addresses, as well as become more vocal regarding Pearly Beach matters.
- Members with email addresses will receive all the committee-meeting minutes. Members without email will receive one letter per annum with the AGM minutes and the annual report of the events at Pearly Beach that affect ratepayers.

3.2 Item 3.3 Letterhead: The Committee thanked Nina for re-designing the letterhead and membership form.    <<Back

4 MEMBERSHIP MATTERS & FINANCE: Membership fees can now be paid at Androux Estates, situated at the entrance to Pearly Beach, on the left.    <<Back

5 CORRESPONDENCE & COMMUNICATIONS:

5.1 Pearly Beach Patrols / Neighbourhood Watch: Charlie Bruwer, Manager of the Patrols, would like to make people coming to Pearly Beach aware of the fact that there is a Neighbourhood Watch active in the area. He suggested a sign at the entrance to Pearly Beach. Currently, there is an old sign outside Androux Estates, which could be renewed. The Committee would sort something out.

5.2 Briers Farm Access Road & Resort Development: The owner of Farm 'Lang Gelegen' no. 227, Bredasdorp (Pearly Beach) will be lodging an application with the Provincial Dept. of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, for the proposed rezoning of a portion of the farm from Agricultural 1 to Resort Zone 2 & Open Space Zone 3 to allow for the proposed development of a resort next to Pearly Beach. In addition to this, the owner is also proposing to develop a 2,9 km access road from the R43 Arterial route road directly adjacent to it on the northern side, as well as a Hotel with a Wellness Centre situated between the Limestone ridge (on inland side) and the secondary dune system. The proposed access road will also join the R43 Arterial route road with the western side of Pearly Beach. The Committee would find out more about the proposed hotel and wellness centre. No objections from the RPA would be submitted.

5.3 Erf 629, Short Market Street - Subdivision, rezoning and sale of portion for parking: The Council intends to subdivide the erf into 2 portions, rezone the smaller portion from Authority Zone to Road Zone (Public Parking), and sell this portion to the owners of erven 636 (Pearly Village) and 637, who intend to develop erf 637 into businesses and flats. No objections from the RPA would be submitted.

5.4 Petition - Tarring of roads: The official road to be tarred next is currently Perlemoen Street. A petition against this was received from residents of The Crescent, Bay Street and End Street, who are requesting that these roads be next on the tarring list. They argue that the above roads gather large puddles when it rains, get weathered by heavy traffic, and produce a lot of dust that comes into their houses, damaging computers and other electronic equipment. The RPA would submit an objection to Perlemoen being next on the list, and would request that the priority list be revised. Protea Road would also be suggested for tarring, as the sloping section washes away with heavy rain.

5.5 Public Police Meeting: The police are willing to have a public meeting in Pearly Beach, which would give interested residents a chance to find out more about crime and how to handle it.    <<Back

6 CLOSING: The Chairperson thanked members for their contributions and declared the meeting closed at 17:20.    <<Back

7 NEXT MEETING: To be decided.    <<Back
