MINUTES of the meeting of the Management Committee held at 30 Broadway Street Pearly Beach on 23 May 2006 at 15h00.

3 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES OF 21 March 2006

3.1 Item 5.1 Light or signage: A letter was sent to the authorities. Mr. van Wyk has spoken to Mr. Manie van Eeden of the Provincial Administration who promised that a larger noticeboard with lettering of 200cm instead of the 130cm will be put up.

3.2 Item 5.2 Garbage & litter: Our letter requesting the municipality to collect the garbage on the day following a long weekend was acknowledged. Norma van Wyk proposed that a wall with a gate be erected at the Community Hall. The Club committee would be approached in this connection. The problem was raised of people who dump their garbage at the dump site intended for garden refuse. This poses an environmental hazard and is was contrary to municipal regulations. Mr Reinhardt undertook to investigate the litter strewn in the area between Afsaal and Rooibier. It may be necessary to place a large bin at a strategic point.

3.3 Item 6.1 Development on western side of Pearly Beach: At a special committee meeting it was decided to submit an official objection to the development. The RPA submitted their written objection. A public meeting will be held on Monday 12 June 2006 at the Pearly Beach Recreation hall and Ratepayers will be informed.

3.4 Item 6.4 Hermanus RPA AGM: Mr & Mrs van Wyk and Linda Harris attended.    <<Back

4 COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE

4.1 Appeal: Rezoning of Erf 1917 and adjoining erven (previously owned by Mr Conradie): Approval has been granted for Resort Zone 1 with conditions requiring a developmental plan. No mobile dwellings, caravans or camping sites will be allowed on the property.

4.2 Quad Bike Menace: Mr Kritzinger of Overstrand Traffic Dept has confirmed that quad bikes are only allowed on off-road tracks and are not allowed on public roads.

4.3 Conservation Society: The Minutes dated 29 April 2006 was discussed and the contents noted.

4.4 Resigning of Vice-Chairman: Mr Brand tendered his resignation as his present work pressure has made it impossible for him to attend meetings.    <<Back

7 MUNICIPAL MEETINGS

7.1 Ward 2 Election: Two Pearly Beach residents were voted onto the ward committee on 11 April 2006. Johnny van Wyk would represent the Pearly Beach RPA; Linda Harris was elected as an Individual member.

7.2 Report on Ward Meetings at Gansbaai Municipality on the following dates:

7.2.1 20 April - Mr Brand reported on the first Ward Meeting when the OMAF (Overstrand Municipal Advisory Forum) and Budget Evaluation Committees were elected. Miss Harris succeeded in being elected to OMAF.

7.2.2 10 May - Mr Hendry reported on the discussions at the ward meeting. The community is enthusiastic at the prospects of the possibility of receiving funds from Barclays/Absa to build a sports complex and school on the site behind the municipal buildings. Manchester United have offered to make a contribution towards an astro turf.    <<Back

8 GENERAL REPORTS

8.1 BUILDING REPORTS: Mr van Wyk reported on the following building plans:

New building plans approved: Erf 1758 Neethling Street - double storey; Erf 188 c/o Central & Arc Streets - double storey; Erf 2071 Noordkapper Close; Erf 12 Klein Hagelkraal; Erf 313 N.DAV double storey; Erf 1565 Oranje Street 8,5m; Erf 284 Broadway Street

Additions: Erf 488 Ridge Rd.- 2 bedrooms,family room, bathroom, workroom, bathroom in garage; Erf 1940 Marine Rd - new verandah & landing,studio verandah under roof; Erf 447 Tower Rd - timber deck, garden wall, room over store;Erf 1579 Charlie v Breda Groundfloor - 1st floor coverage 356.28m; Erf 1604 Oranje Street - American Log Homes garage; Erf 143 Twist Street - over boundary car port; Erf 258 Twist Street - bathroom

8.2 BLOCK REPORTS: Block co-ordinators discussed their blocks. In Block 2, the owner and staff of Rooibier Restaurant were attacked by three Xhosa speaking men. The owners bakkie was used as a get-away vehicle which was later recovered near to Uilenkraalsmond.    <<Back
